World Association for Positive
and Transcultural Psychotherapy (WAPP, Wiesbaden, Germany)


WAPP is the international umbrella organisation for positive and transcultural psychotherapy. It consists of individual members, national associations, national and regional training institutions, centres and representative offices.


Since 1977, WAPP's mission has been to promote the development and maintenance of mental health, individuals, families and societies. WAPP promotes positive psychotherapy, advancing its theory, methodology and practical application worldwide. It offers comprehensive postgraduate training programmes in psychotherapy, family therapy, psychosomatics and counselling, ensuring that practitioners gain the necessary skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact on their communities.


In addition, WAPP organises workshops, lectures, conferences and seminars relating to various aspects of positive psychotherapy, as well as cross-cultural exchange of theories, methods and research. Our work is in line with the Strasbourg Declaration on Psychotherapy .

WAPP and its affiliated institutions are members of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP) , the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP) and the World Federation for Psychotherapy (WFP).


WAPP has more than 2200 members from 54 countries on 6 continents.

Our community includes more than 160 trainers, providing access to positive psychotherapy education (courses) in more than 20 countries.

WAPP publishes a ‘The Global Psychotherapist’ magazine ( JGP )

The Global Psychotherapist (JGP) is an interdisciplinary digital journal dedicated to positive psychotherapy ( PPT by Pezeshkian, since 1977)™.
This peer-reviewed, semi-annual journal publishes articles on the experience and application of the humanistic-psychodynamic method of positive and transcultural psychotherapy.

The Global Psychotherapist publishes original research findings on the relative application of the concepts of positive and transcultural psychotherapy, as well as scientific, theoretical and practical materials in psychology and psychotherapy on the development of the PPT method.

The journal is published twice a year - in January and July. The languages of the articles are English, Russian and Ukrainian.
All incoming articles are reviewed according to the double-blind peer-review procedure. All articles are accepted for publication free of charge.
